The Wisdom Blog is changing, and I need your help to make it what you want it to be.

As mentioned in my Planning for 2013 post, I have been doing a lot of thinking about where I want things to be by the end of 2013. This covers a wide variety of areas, from the revenue of the business, to how many books I want to read. One of the main things I want to do is dramatically change the way I have been using the Wisdom Blog.

I originally set this Blog up about a year ago. The purpose was to give people insights into some of the wisdom I had picked up over the years; from the things I use in my work, to snippets I get from other great sources of learning and growth. Somewhere at the back there was the intention that it would generate more traffic to my website, or to me directly, but the attention was firmly on ‘giving’.

In 2012 I posted 15 articles on the WisdomBlog. My initial thought was that I would post one a week. It was a noble intention that was thwarted by my own productivity challenges (something I have been tirelessly working on for over a year). This is one of the things that I need to change about the blog.

My vision for this blog is that it is known as a reliable source of insight on subjects such as Leadership, Productivity and Personal Growth. I want it to be something that you look forward to reading and that you recommend to people like yourself. I want it to be something that people share through social media, and join in the discussion using comments etc.

There are a lot of things that I need to do to reach this vision, some of which I have already done (moving hosting provider and upgrading systems for example), but the main two are:

  • Find out what people want to read about
  • Post more frequently and more consistently

For the first point, this is my request to you: Tell me what you are interested in. Tell me what you want to know about and what kind of posts you like. Tell me what would make this the kind of blog you want subscribe to, look forward to and recommend to others. Do this using the comments, or contact me direct.

For the second, I have started a project called 52 in 13 (I have a few of these ‘xxx in 13’ projects). What this basically means is that my aim is to post at least 52 posts in 2013. I have put the systems in place, and there are other steps that will help me achieve this (brainstorming ideas, pre-writing and scheduling posts etc), but it mainly relies on me being as productive and disciplined as I can be.

So help me make this blog a place you like to take a minute to read, perhaps over your Friday morning coffee. Tell me what you want, share it when you want, and use the ‘subscribe by email’ if you haven’t already.

Please share this using the social networking icons and I look forward to hearing your views.
